It is close to midnight in Boston and I am packing my bags and about to head to bed so I can catch my flight back to California in the morning. I left the hospital today around 9:30PM and I can honestly say it is not the easiest leaving a family member behind in a hospital. I am so thankful that my step-mom and sister and random visitors will be there to help support him over the next 2 months while he is in a rehabilitation center in Boston.

I apologize for being behind on an update seeing as my Dad’s surgery was yesterday. However, I had little information last night and I was completely exhausted.
The surgery was supposed to begin at 10:30am yesterday but the OR was behind schedule and his surgery started at 1:30pm instead. The surgery last 5 hours and around 6:50pm his surgeon Dr. Choo talked with us. The talk was VERY brief stating “The surgery went well and we will come get you when he is able to be seen” … This is why I had very little information last night. I got to spend 10min with him in the recovery room and he was well drugged and not in any pain whatsoever. He was able to feel all parts of his body and had a little more movement in his right hand and arm.
